The government will promote American heritage and honor visionary and patriotic Americans through the naming of national treasures and geographic features.
Agency heads will review and replace Board members within seven days, and the reconstituted Board will apply the new naming policy to applications for geographic name changes.
Within 30 days, the Secretary of Interior will reinstate the name Mount McKinley for the mountain in Alaska, while Denali National Park retains its current name.
Within 30 days, the Secretary of Interior will rename the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America in federal records and geographic databases.
The Interior Department may solicit input on additional geographic names to change to honor American patriots.
